What we do

Provide Meals
While many of us take for granted the luxury of three meals a day, countless individuals struggle with food insecurity. A simple, home-cooked meal can be a beacon of hope, offering nourishment and comfort.
Through the tireless efforts of our dedicated volunteers, Midland Meals is committed to making a difference. We deliver meals to those in need every day of the year at three convenient locations: Midland, Ellenbrook, and Bassendean.
Maintain an Adequate Kitchen
Through the generosity of our donors, Midland Meals is able to provide over 870 nutritious meals each week. Recognising the challenges faced by many in our community, our dedicated volunteer chefs transform donated pantry staples and fresh produce into wholesome meals that nourish both body and soul.

It takes a lot to feed so many! Each week, we use a staggering 520 sausages, 512 slices of cheese, and 140 liters of orange juice – a testament to the scale of our operation and the impact we make on local lives.

Provide Clothing and Essential Items
Those who seek support at Midland Meals often face significant challenges. Beyond providing nourishing meals, we offer essential items like warm clothing, blankets, toiletries, and even tents and swags to help them weather life's storms.
These practical items can make a substantial difference, providing comfort, dignity, and a sense of security. By addressing these basic needs, we empower individuals to focus on rebuilding their lives and achieving greater stability.
Provide Essential Services
While many of us take for granted easy access to essential services, those experiencing homelessness often lack these basic necessities. To address this gap, Midland Meals has partnered with several organisations to provide crucial support:

-
Orange Sky: Every Saturday night at the Midland site, Orange Sky's mobile laundries offer weekly washing and drying services. This simple act of kindness helps individuals maintain their dignity and improve their overall well-being.
-
Midlas: Every Wednesday and Friday from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Bassendean site, Midlas provides vital financial counseling, well-being support, tenancy advocacy, disability advocacy, and legal services to people.
-
Street Law: Fridays at the Bassendean Site 11-12:30pm - Free, dignified, professional and non-judgmentallegal advice.
-
Street Doctor: Wednesdays and Fridays 9-4pm at the Bassendean Site. An easily accessible, non-judgemental health service, the 360 Street Doctor works closely with other community services to engage with people that may be unwilling or unable to access traditional health services.
-
Mission Australia: Wednesdays and Fridays 10-1pm at the Bassendean site - meet with a Local Area coordinator to discuss the NDIS and requesting Access.
As we continue to expand our services, we aim to address additional essential needs. For instance, access to restrooms and haircuts, often taken for granted, can significantly impact the lives of those living rough.
